What is the FSC Designation And Why Is It At Risk?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international certification and labelling system dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world's forests. Simcoe County has fought hard to obtain this well-deserved and important accreditation.  We applaud them for their efforts. However, we believe that putting a factory in the forest puts this at risk.

FSC is supported by credible environmental and social organizations including Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Canada Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS), and The Sierra Club of Canada. All of these organizations recognize FSC certification as the only legitimate, and the most rigorous, forest certification system in the world.  We don't believe these organizations will be very supportive when they discover what's being proposed.
